Everyday we roll through life taking things for granted. We can walk, talk, breath, see... some of us have children, some of us don't. We take life itself for granted. Well, my family knows first hand that life is not something to be taken for granted, and amazingly we were taught that by a beautiful, 2 pound girl who fought her way to health after being born 15 1/2 weeks early. The incredible spirit of this child is what inspires team Saza to walk every year and raise funds for the March for Babies.
See, even with her incredible spirit and will to live, she could not have done it on her own. The amazing doctors and nurses at South Shore Hospital were able to help her along using training and technology that in part was bought and donated by WalkAmerica(formerly March of Dimes). Without the bed that regulated her breathing, temperature, and even humidity levels we would not have our little miracle with us today. By the way, she is not so little anymore... she is a walking, talking climbing, smiling, singing, beautiful little girl who STILL has that "you can't beat me attitude" in her eyes.
Every day thousands of families deal with the loss of a child born prematurely, or with sickness that was untreatable. March for Babies believes that every child deserves to be healthy, and so they are raising money for research and development to make that a reality.
Let's give as many families, children, a fighting chance at having a first Christmas, a first birthday, a first step... as we possibly can.
The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
